The new expansion, Teeth of Naros, promises plenty of new content to play with in the already vast world of Amalur. Much like The Legend of Dead Kel before it, Teeth of Naros contains new areas to explore, new enemies to slice to pieces, and of course plenty of items to collect.
For a studio working on an MMO that might very well be released later this year, it is impressive to see two major expansions to an already enormous game in as many months. It will be interesting to see if 38 Studios and Big Huge Games can keep up this production cycle, especially now that reports show that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is continuing to sell well, even a couple of months after its release.
Joystiq has taken note of a report at WPRI.com, confirming that Kingdoms of Amalur “sold another 80,000 copies in the United States last month” which “brings total U.S. retail sales of Reckoning to 410,000 copies during its first two months on the market.” Furthermore, as the report states, these NPD numbers do not count digital sales or international sales, meaning that number is likely much, much larger than it appears.
Speaking of digital sales, below is an official description of the Teeth of Naros DLC (available now for $10 from Steam, Origin, PSN and Xbox Live) from the developer’s website:
The developer has also provided a more specific look at exactly what all that information means in a handy little feature list. Make sure to keep scrolling afterwards for some foreboding screens and a particularly dangerous trailer:
A New City — Explore the Kollossae city of Idylla, which magically floats in the sky above the Teeth of Naros. Idylla features more than 20 side quests, multiple dungeons, and a mysterious new race: the Kollossae. New Enemies and Dungeons — Take part in a crucible of faith and tribulation with new dangers and enemies as you journey through five enormous new dungeons. New Twists of Fate and Items — You’ll have be able to find and choose from three new Twists of Fate, nine new armor sets, six new shields, and 18 new unique weapons as you journey through this new world.
