In the trailer for The Sacrifice, we noted that the DLC mentioned it would be available on PC and Mac, although at the time there was no official statement from Valve about the game receiving a Mac release. Valve also placed a statement on their blog discussing The Sacrifice.

Valve, being the fantastic company that it is, has also extended the free download to anyone who has already purchased the game for PC. Currently there has been no mention of a sale for the Mac release, but it seems unlikely as the new DLC The Sacrifice is being released October 5. For those who don’t already own it, you can purchase Left 4 Dead 2 on steam for $19.99, or as a bundle with the original Left 4 Dead for $29.99.

Valve also updated their post to state there will be five new mutation modes, free for PC and Mac users. Xbox 360 users will have to download The Passing to get them.

Additionally, the five achievements that come with the new DLC have been revealed, and are as follows:

Supreme Sacrifice – Complete The Sacrifice. Chaos Generator – Have all 3 generators running at once in The Sacrifice finale. Barrel Rolled – Kill a Special Infected with an exploding barrel. Kill Bill – Have Bill sacrifice himself for the team. Sacrifizzle – As a Special Infected, incap someone who is trying to sacrifice themselves.

These new achievements provide additional insight into the new DLC as well. For those who are not following along with the Left 4 Dead comic, we are still not sure how exactly one of the survivors will be able to sacrifice themselves. We do know that there is no special achievement for sacrificing yourself though, and that the final push will involve sustaining generators.

Mac users, will you be ready to bloody up your nice white devices with some zombie parts when Left 4 Dead 2 is released October 5, 2010?
